Hey all you scrappers- listen up....
My friend Dottie is organizing a scrapbooking fundraising event at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen on December 1st for a 14 year old who has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. She is doing an AMAZING job- You need to check out her blog at www.croppin4acause.blogspot.com because the donations she has received for this event are incredible!! She has donations from Ali Edwards (yes, THE Ali Edwards from Creating Keepsakes) but that's only the beginning, there's also Donna Downey, Tim Holtz and many more!! There will be a silent auction with a lot of the donated items- I know all you die-hard scrappers will not want to miss this- you better hold your spot ASAP and it's only $20 and the food she has gotten donated from local businesses is way awesome. All the information you need is on the blog or you can get in touch with me. This is going to be an FANTASTICALLY FUN TIME and all for a GOOD CAUSE!!!

I'm baaack! I haven't stopped bloggin, it's just been busy. I love this picture of Allie's field hockey team praying before their game- it reminds me that there still is prayer in public schools!! This was their last regular season game- they start regional tournaments next week. This was the senior game where they do a ceremony for the senior players- I'm going to miss this!
Scott moved home a couple weeks ago and is now getting ready to move to Exton, PA to attend Volkswagon Academy for 4 months and then they will employ him when he is finished- HOPEFULLY, near home, but we don't know. This was homecoming weekend for Allie and she had the time of her life. Her very good friend, Bethany was homecoming queen. I had to laugh when Allie was telling us that they got home to Bethany's house after homecoming and were locked out and Bethany had to crawl through the doggy door- too funny! Allie also did a presentation about her mission trip to the WELCA (women of the Evang. Lutheran Church of America) ladies at our church on Saturday. She did such a good job that the pastor asked her to do it in front of the whole church on December 2nd, so come see it if you can. Also, some of you received my e-mail, but for those of you who didn't, my friend Dottie is organizing a scrapbooking fundraiser for her son's (Kyle) friend (Brandy Foehrkohb) who was just diagnnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. This is Scott and his roommate, Tyler at graduation and in front of their house when they packed up to leave Blairsville for the last time! Congrats guys! Scott is still undecided as to whether to take a job with CarMax or attend Volkswagon Academy up near Philadelphia. We drove up this morning to visit the Volkswagon Academy and right now, he is definitely leaning toward that! Good luck to both of you!!!

Don't forget - tomorrow is the Scrapbooking Fiesta at St. Paul's from noon-8pm. A great time to get some work done on your most current project and enjoy food, friends and FUN! I spent the evening scrapbooking at Storytellers last evening. The "Shop-Hopping Around the Bay" started yesterday. They had a lot of people coming in who had visited a lot of the stores yesterday! It was so much fun talking to all of them and hearing all about their home stores and all the stores they had visited. I didn't get much scrapping done- more talking than anything! Oh well, isn't that what life is REALLY about!! I'm off to church to set up for the FIESTA and to decorate my Sunday school classroom and then on to Allie's field hockey game- they are 3 and 0 - GO LADY COBRAS!!! Enjoy your day!

Marathon scrappin Day!

We made our scrappin field trip into a scrappin marathon! We started at 9am with a coffee stop followed by a visit to a scrapbook store, then lunch at Chili's, then another scrapbook store where we met up with another scrappin buddy and then we came to my house to create new things with our findings! I bought my first 6 x12" album. I'm excited to put the 6x12" layouts I've been working on into it! We scrapped 'til almost midnight. I love scrappin with other people, I ALWAYS learn something new. Deb turned me on to UN-DO, that stuff is AMAZING!! Denny enjoyed my trip also because he was able to fish all day! Poor Allie had to work! Sorry you couldn't make it Stacy, maybe next time!

I am so bummed... I finally got up to York, PA today to visit my dear friend Dawn with my camera in hand , of course. Well, her son Mitchell was more than willing to pose for me, sooo... I took a picture and it comes up ~ "No Memory Card" ~ I left it in the computer at home ~ ARRRRGGH! We had so much fun, she has this great farmers market about 10 minutes from her house, where I got these beautiful flowers! I went nuts with all the fresh meats and veggies and especially the homemade salads and breads ~ yum, yum! I can't believe it's been 2 months since I've seen them when I used to see them everyday. I miss them soooo much!! I've got a great scrappin' field trip scheduled tomorrow with 5 or 6 friends - Yippee, can't wait! I'm just a scrappin' fool!

Hey everyone, please check out this site: www.calendarblessings.com ~ Denny's cousin, Linda started this very unique calendar business. Linda started making calendars as gifts for her relatives when her children were born (they are now about 17 and 20). Each month had a picture of her children with a theme to match the month- they were adorable. Well... now she makes the calendars for everyone and you just add your own pictures. They make a great diary of your childrens life for less money than you could ever scrap it yourself. Plus, you have a document of everything you did that year. It's GREAT for people who don't scrap, but even if you do and can never seem to keep up with your kids life -or anyone for that matter, at least you will have it documented on a calendar. Her website is now up and running and she has put a lot of time and effort into it, please check it out!

I found this great new site for printing photos: http://www.scrapbookpictures.com/ ~~ they have EVERY size you can think of and VERY reasonable prices. 4 x 6's are only $.12 and the quality is great! You can also add all kinds of borders or printing on the photos and...they will have them delivered to your door in no time. I can't wait to try the 4" x 12" size - that's my latest thing- photo strips- like this layout! This layout is from my niece's wedding - love that Bazzill paper- so fun!

Allie came home between field hockey practices today and says she needs a birthday gift for a party at 6 as she's walking out the door at 3pm. I ran across the street to Storytellers and picked up some of this great custom Harford Tech paper and covered a tissue box and filled it with one dollar bills that I taped together. Sssshhhh ~ don't tell anyone I punched holes in the top dollar bill to add pom-poms. Allie loved it! By the way, Storytellers has ALL the local high schools, even the new Patterson Mill High School. They also have matching embellishments. I was able to whip this together in about 15 minutes. Storytellers is in the process of setting up my gallery as I am busy working on new projects to fill it up. I'll let you know when.

I am totally loving this vacation thing! Today I had lunch with some friends, caught up on some laundry and vegged. I actually cooked dinner for Allie and myself, one of her favs-black bean quesadillas!
Denny is still in West Virginia- enjoying the outdoors! I had to bring Allie back on Tuesday to start her last year of field hockey practice , which means lots of stinky laundry again. I know it sounds strange, but I think I will miss it next year.
My first class at Storytellers (the skewer book) is going to be Thursday, Sept 27th from 6-8pm.

This was so much fun- it is new to Canaan Valley and actually there are only 5 in the United States. They do not have a lift as of yet, so we definitely got our exercise walking up that hill for 2 hours. The teenagers were the first to poop out. It's $10 for a 2 hour session ~ most people don't last more than 45 minutes, so after the first hour we pretty much had the place to ourselves . The run was about the length of a football field. What a BLAST!!

You can say anything you want about West Virginia, but this is a REAL vacation! I have been to Europe and the Caribbean, but this is by far my favorite. Sometimes we forget what's in our own backyard! We just keep going back here again and again because it is just soooo relaxing! I REALLY did not want to leave!

Hey everyone, I will soon be teaching at Storytellers Scrapbooking in Belcamp. I am sooooo excited about this opportunity, because I am an independent instructor, free to teach whatever I can dream up with whatever materials I can get my hands on- Woooo-hooo! One of my first classes is going to be a version of this album, which is held together by skewers - IT IS A LOT OF FUN to make one of these! (Sorry about the pictures being sideways. I'm not great with the computer, but I'm learning!) As soon as I can get some projects to them they will be setting up a gallery for me on their website. Can't wait to leave for vacation on Friday to one of my favorite places, as most of you know... Canaan Valley, West Virginia. I can't wait to take lots of great pictures. Both of the kids are going and some of their friends plus both of Denny's sisters and their family. Should be a BLAST! I can't wait to just R-E-L-A-X and do anything I want or nothing at all. I'm looking forward to horseback riding with Allie again. We leave Fri, but unfortunately have to be back on Tues evening because Allie starts field hockey practice on Wed at 8am- YUK! Denny and I drove her and some of her team members to camp yesterday- almost 500 miles round trip- whew! Too much for one day- that girl has had a busy summer. I am looking forward to just enjoying my family and having nothing else to think about- wooo-hooo!

Wow - again it's been forever since I blogged! It has been a whirlwind month with Allie going to Africa. I definitely overbooked myself, thinking I'd have so much more time- what WAS I thinking? I have run across some cool websites I wanted to mention. One of them is http://www.moo.com/ - they will print up to 100 of your favorite photos in 2-3/4" x 1" (half the size of a business card) with journaling on the back- what a cool gift idea and they come in a plastic box to store them in. I can't wait to try it. they will also print your photos on stickers. Another cool scrapbooking site is http://www.aussiescrapsource.typepad.com/ - definitely some talented scrappers. Well, it's been a heck of a day- we went to Denny's company picnic and our alternator belt broke- luckily Denny is pretty handy and was able to temporarily fix it in the Advanced Auto Parts parking lot, however, I had no power steering or air conditioning to get home and it's an hour drive. I have been able to get to a few thrift stores while Allie was gone (mostly hunting for record albums for my August class) and have made some really cool purchases. My scrap room is really starting to come together and have a look to it other than "total chaos room". Well, I need to get some rest- whew!

Wow, it's been forever since I've posted anything. It's been kinda crazy trying to get Allie ready to go to Africa. She has had to get all kinds of vaccines and malaria medications etc. i've also been working a lot with a lot of people on vacation at work. I went to my niece's (Brooke) wedding last Saturday and it was amazing! It was at an old house that is now used as a Wellness Center and also rented out for events. The weather was P-E-R-F-E-C-T for an outdoor wedding- not too hot, not too cool, no rain, no wind- just perfect! The pictures are on Denny's laptop so I will post some later- it seems as though my pictures are always somewhere else! I am Soooo excited- when we take Allie to Lynchburg next Sat (july 7th-yikes!) I made reservations at a Bed & Breakfast in Lynchburg for after we drop her off- I thought it would get my mind off worrying about her-yea, right! I talked to the owner of the B & B today & they sound really nice- I've always wanted to stay at one, but never got the opportunity. Well, I'll try to keep blogging more! Toodles!

The scrapbooking fundraiser for Allie's Africa mission trip was a SCRAPTACULAR success, thanks to all the wonderful volunteers and vendors! If fact, the ladies are already trying to figure out how we could do this monthly! Everyone had plenty of space. There were lots of make-n-takes and tons of door prizes all day. Deb Gaither did a make-n-take making bouquets of wooden flowers covered in paper with photos- IT WAS A REAL HIT! Thanks Deb!! Jen Moses of Stampin' Up did a demo using the word phrase punch and made a card with a spinning pinwheel- it was ADORABLE! A great time was had by all!!

Ok guys, UR seeing this layout before it even gets to the store (which will be later today) This was so much fun - I just love this photo, I've used it several times - it's so colorful! Ok, here's a sneak preview of my June SMU class- I will be doing 2 layouts in Heidi Swapp style with a little Funk thrown in , of course! This is the first layout. I should have the second one posted in a few days.

I love these stamps made by 7Gypsies- they make very clean, crisp images with a simple touch - no ink mess and... an 1-1/2 " circle punch cuts them out perfectly for tags or whatever - they are soooo much fun! I received my irridescent paint from My Tattered Angels - they are much thinner than I thought they would be and very translucent. I was hoping for more opaque, but they give a nice shimmer to things. Oh, I almost forgot, my new business cards came today- I will post one for you to see- Happy Scrappin!

Happy Mother's Day to all my mother friends!! I had a good Mother's Day, even though Scott is away and Allie had to work. Denny & I went hiking (and a little fishing) in Gunpowder State Park. I caught the biggest fish (he will tell you different - don't believe him!) The weather was great and about the time we finished, Allie had gotten off work early because they were overstaffed and we went out for dinner- all in all, just about a perfect day!

Check out the prom dresses for this year- I thought only Allie picked a bright dress, but they were ALL like that. We just took these pictures about an hour ago- don't they all look beautiful- I hope they all have a great (& SAFE) time tonight! They all went on a converted Greyhound bus- gorgeous inside, it even has hardwood floors. We call it "the Party bus"!

By the way, today is National Scrapbook Day- Happy scrappin' to all you scrapbookers- don't forget to sign up for my fundraising crop on June 9th- spots are filling up fast! I just want to let everyone know about the crop we are having on June 9th at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Aberdeen on Mt. Royal Ave. next to the Middle school from 9am to 6pm. It is to benefit my daughter's (Allie) mission trip to Tanzania/Kenya, Africa this Summer. She will be spending three and a half weeks there doing sports ministry and bible studies with the children there. The trip is through X-Treme Impact at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Allie doesn't know anyone else who is going on the trip but is up for the challenge- it's me I'm not so sure of. I'm nervous about sending her half way around the world, but in view of the things that have happened lately, I should be more nervous about sending her off to college. Wow, this is easier than I thought, I just have to keep up with it- unfortunately I can't add images from this computer and Denny is using the other computer tonight- we only have until Tues to complete the FAFSA form for Scott to continue getting his financial aid for college. Nothing like waiting 'til the last minute. We filed our taxes April 16th- I guess that's what you're supposed to do when you OWE the government. Denny is just relieved to be done with the presentation he had to give at the AWWA conference this week and I'm relieved that he's relieved!!

the Funk birthday season

Well, the Funk birthday season is 2/3 finished- Scott, Allie & Denny have their birthdays exactly one week apart from each other. Scott was 19 on April 19th, Allie's was 17 on April 26th and Denny will be 49 (really! he won't be 50 'til next year) on May 3rd. I love from May 3rd until Aug 8th because it looks like he is a year older than me. It's been a crazy week- Allie had 3 games this week - next week is the final game in the regular season and then the tournaments. I will actually be glad to see it end and get a break from all those hormonal teenage girls. I taught my SMU class on Wed night and we made a real mess. I told everyone to always where old clothes to my class 'cause I love gettin' down & dirty! I took a road trip today with a few friends and got some paper to do an album for my dental office for that AWESOME trip Dr.Parker took us on to New York last week. What a blast we had- everyone can't wait to go back- I loved Chinatown and Canal St.!

I'm really gonna try this- I posted one blog back in Feb & that was it. My life gets kinda crazy sometimes and trying to find the time for this gets hard. Maybe that's just an excuse for being somewhat computer illiterate- oh well, all I can do is try. If you see that I haven't posted- maybe you can come show an old dog new tricks- helllllp!
